You Are Not Alone: HH Law Firm Stands With Survivors This Sexual Assault Awareness Month

April 2026 | Washington D.C., Irvine, CA, & San Diego, CA

April is Sexual Assault Awareness and Prevention Month, a time dedicated to raising awareness, supporting survivors, and promoting prevention through education and community action. At HH Law Firm, this month is more than a calendar designation. It is a call to show up for the people in our communities who need real, tangible support.

This year, we are doing something concrete about it.

Free Legal Support for Survivors, All April Long

Throughout April, HH Law Firm is offering free legal services to help survivors obtain Temporary Restraining Orders (TROs). That means no attorney fees for the initial work. No financial barrier stands between you and your safety.

Clients are responsible only for standard court filing and service fees, costs set by the court and outside our control. Everything else? We handle it.

We believe that access to legal protection should never be a privilege. If you are in danger, you should not have to choose between your safety and your bank account.

When Sexual Assault Becomes a Civil Rights or Employment Case

Sexual assault does not always happen in isolation. When it occurs at the hands of a boss, a coworker, a supervisor, or someone with institutional power over you, it may cross into civil rights and employment law territory, and that changes what your legal options look like.

HH Law Firm handles civil rights and employment cases on a contingency basis. That means you pay nothing unless we win. If a person in power violated your rights in a workplace, school, or institution, you may have a case that goes far beyond a restraining order — and you may be entitled to significant compensation.

In cases involving extreme harm, we are committed to working with clients regardless of their financial situation and will discuss fee arrangements on a case-by-case basis.

Why This Month Matters to Us

We serve communities across Washington D.C., Irvine, and San Diego. In each of those places, survivors are navigating systems that were not built with them in mind, court processes that are confusing, timelines that feel impossible, and an overwhelming sense that they have to figure it all out alone.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month gives us a platform to say clearly: you do not have to do this alone. Whether it happened in a parking lot, a workplace, a school, or behind closed doors, what was done to you was wrong. And you deserve someone in your corner who will fight like it.

Posting awareness graphics is easy. Showing up with actual legal help is what we choose to do instead.

What Is a Temporary Restraining Order, and Do You Need One?

A Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) is a court order that legally prohibits an individual from making contact with you, coming near your home, workplace, or school, or taking any action that threatens your safety. It is one of the fastest legal tools available to survivors in immediate danger.

TROs can be issued quickly, often the same day they are filed. Once granted, violating the order carries serious legal consequences for the abuser. For survivors, a TRO can be the first step toward reclaiming safety and stability.

If you are unsure whether a TRO applies to your situation, reach out. There is no cost to ask, and everything you share with us remains confidential.
